This information has been confirmed to GLOBO by sources related to the case. The PT's application was filed on 21 October 2002 and indicates, among the episodes justifying his compensation, the fact of having abandoned the economics course of the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 1969 for having been "persecuted" by the diet.

The former president, who retired to the INSS in 2015 after the impeachment process, has already received a total of R $ 72,000 from the governments of Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro for being arrested and tortured during the military regime.
