The royal jewels stolen last year were found in a paper bin near Stockholm. More than six months later, the mystery of the disappearance of two crowns and a sphere of the seventeenth century seems to have been elucidated.
In July 2018, thieves entered Strängnäs Cathedral and left with the treasure. They fled in a boat, through a nearby lake, and disappeared. After the discovery, the trial of a 22-year-old man charged with robbery was suspended.
These are objects made of gold, pearls and precious stones valued at more than six million euros, which will soon return to the place where they were exposed, probably with increased security.
"These are unique pieces that belong to our history, even if they were found," says Christoffer Lundgren, parish priest of the cathedral.
