Campinas immunizes against measles professionals who have contact with travelers at the bus station | Campinas and Region

Eight hundred doses will be available to contain possible registrations in the municipality, since cases have already been confirmed in other parts of the state and country. Representatives of travel agencies, taxi drivers, application drivers and cafeterias and shelter workers should be vaccinated.

The 800 doses will be applied this Thursday and Friday (13) from 9:30 to 11:30 and from 13:30 to 15:45.

Similar actions will still be undertaken at Viracopos airport and in other parts of the city, but next week.

Brazil received a certificate of measles elimination from the World Health Organization in 2016. But the country is experiencing epidemics in some states such as Rondônia, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and cases in São Paulo.

With the resurgence of measles cases in the states of the northern region of Brazil and the reduction of vaccination coverage in Campinas (SP), the Ministry of Health made this Tuesday (10), calling on the population to to be immunized against the disease. The last indigenous case, that is, contracted in the municipality, dates back to 1997; already the last record in the city took place in 2011, and was imported.

According to the Ministry of Health, the triple virus, which immunizes against measles, mumps and rubella, is available in all health facilities. Between 2017 and 2018, coverage for the second dose is less than 80% (72.95% and 77.70%).

According to the mayor, the Ministry of Health will organize a national vaccination campaign for children up to age 5 from August 6 to 31. The goal of Campinas is to vaccinate 56,700 children in this age group during the campaign. However, doses are available in all units and the population can be vaccinated outside the countryside.
