The National Department of Infrastructure and Transportation (Dnit) began shoring work on the Caucaia viaduct in BR-020 on Friday (4). The structure was destroyed during a criminal attack Thursday (3) In addition to shoring, hydraulic frames are installed to prevent the collapse of the structure.

Since the night of Wednesday (2), criminals have launched an attack on equipment and public transportation in Fortaleza and the metropolitan area. At dawn on Friday, the actions spread to the interior of Ceará. Police arrested 45 suspects in the 20 cities of the state.

One of the first attacks was the explosion of a bomb in the structure of the Caucaia viaduct. One of the columns of the equipment damaged the structure and some of the irons were exposed. The viaduct was to be isolated and Federal Highway Patrol (PRF) agents confirmed the presence of explosives in the area, as well as detonating dynamites.

The development of the project which aims at the total recovery of the viaduct should be done "soon", according to the agency.

Also Thursday, the body decreed the state of emergency and authorized the order of service of a company to carry out the shoring of the viaduct. According to the badessment of Dnit, the equipment was in danger of collapsing.

The completion of the development is scheduled for Saturday (5). Following the recovery, Dnit and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) will badess the possibility of a traffic release through the lower viaduct and possible access to the site.

Technicians from DNIT headquarters in Brasilia, specialized in the field of special works of art, will travel to Fortaleza to strengthen DNIT Ceará in this service.
