A 21-year-old resident of São José dos Campos and a former pupil of a public school was approved at the USP and four other medical schools. In the past two years, he has said that he has devoted himself entirely to the dream of enrolling in the course, with a routine of up to 16 hours of study per day.
In addition to the USP, Gustavo de Melo Correia was approved by Unespesp, at the Faculty of Medicine of Marília and at the Faculty of Medicine of São José do Rio Preto. At the USP, he got the best placement among public school students.
Gustavo, son of an independent woman, owner of a driving school and retired, says that he did not believe in his own performance. "It took me a long time to get the chip, not just mine or the others," he said.
Gustavo did his secondary education at Etec (State Technical School) and, since 2017, he studies in the dream of becoming a doctor. The young man had a partial purse and the rest of the monthly fee was kept by his brother.
The student spoke of the difficulties that he has encountered in the study's trajectory. "I come from public school, I have not created a solid foundation on the part of the writing and accurate, so I started to overload myself, so my psychological has been shaken, "he said.
He says this obstacle has been overcome with the help of his 35-year-old brother. "It motivated me a lot and I realized that the moments of discouragement and lack of self-esteem are normal, but that these problems should not be more important than my desire to become a doctor. . "
Fuvest's medical examiner, who allows him to join the USP, a course chosen by Gustavo, is one of the most popular in the country, with an average of 115 applicants per job.
The student said that after taking cognizance of the approval he had no doubt about his choice. "I'm going to the USP, it's conveniently located near São José, and is also considered one of the best medical colleges in Brazil," he said.
The first step to become a doctor has already been completed and Gustavo is already preparing for his move to São Paulo.
"I am very grateful to all those who have helped me reach my goal and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to study, which makes me want to be a doctor. "It's the opportunity to really change someone's life, the feeling of helping a person is priceless," he said.

The dream of becoming a doctor is also near Thais Rosa Thais, 18, approved in two medical universities at the first attempt at entry.He obtained a 100% scholarship to Anhembi Morumbi , in São José, and has also been approved at the University of V ale do Sapucaí (Univás), in Rio Grande do Sul.
Thaina says she's been looking at the profession since she was a child, but that she's inspired by TV shows showing the backstage. Today, she believes that motivation is also making a difference in people's lives.
"I decided to become a doctor because I wanted to help people.I am also very communicative and I am comfortable in the field of biology, which is important for this profession" , did he declare.
Daughter of a housewife and an electrician of aircraft, Thainá has always been very studious. When I was younger, I was studying in the morning in a public school and in the afternoons in a private school where I was receiving a scholarship. The high school has concluded in the private network with a scholarship for good performance.
The happiness of the family in discovering its approval will remain forever in the memory of Thaina. "I received a call from the college saying that this had been approved.My mother was with me and started crying, I started crying and I could not even hear what they were talking on the phone, then I called my dad, who was at work, to tell him what he had done and he started crying too.It was very exciting, a feast day, "he said.
