The musician and composer Marcelo Yuka, one of the founders of the group O Rappa, is hospitalized in serious condition at Quinta D's Gold hospital, in the northern area of Rio de Janeiro.
According to friends heard by G1 this Friday (4), the artist, aged 53, has a picture of widespread infection. At the request of the family, the hospital did not reveal any information on the state of health.
According to his friend and former producer Luiz Fernando Barakat, Yuka suffered a stroke on Wednesday (2). In the middle of last year, he had already had another stroke.
In 2000, Yuka was paraplegic when he was shot nine times while a woman was badaulted in Tijuca, in the northern area of Rio.
The artist was the drummer of O Rappa, a group that had succeeded with the second. disco, "Rappa Mundi", in 1996. Yuka is the creator of hits like "Fisher of illusions", "What's left of heaven" and "My soul (Peace I do not want)", all on topics such as urban violence, racism and social inequalities.
Two years after being shot and wounded, in 2002, he made his departure from the group, claiming that he had been expelled by the other members for not having accepted the group's instructions.
Creates another group, F.UR.T.O. (Urban Front of organized works), part of a social project that already existed at the time of O Rappa. In 2017, he released the first solo album, "Songs for After Hate", in which he kept the still politicized speech of his compositions.
His political stance led him to join the PSOL in 2010 and to run for mayor of Rio in 2012, along with current MP Marcelo Freixo.
