Of these, 20% gave more than once. However, most (64%) have never given. This is revealed by an IBOPE Conecta survey conducted in June 2018, from June 21 to 28, among 2,000 Internet users in clbades A, B, C and D from all regions of Brazil.
Asked why they gave blood, 57% gave because they liked helping others, 39% because a friend or relative was in need, 11% gave after seeing in the press that the blood banks were and the remaining 8% donated to stay away from work.
The survey also looked at people who did not give and 28% answered that they had no specific reason, 18% said they were scared and 14% of the minimum weight to give. The lack of information is also a reason, since 8% say they do not know where to give. 8% reported not giving because they already had hepatitis, malaria, leukemia or other diseases that do not allow blood donation and the same amount reported in a group at risk. Lack of time is also a justification for 8%.
