Petrobras reported on Friday (4) that the oil spill in the Campos Basin had been reduced to 80%. An oil slick in one of the FPSO's reservoirs, about 130 km from the Macaé coast on the Litoral River, was detected on Wednesday (2).
According to the company, the process of dispersion of the stain is done mechanically through elements used in the basin.
Three vessels are working on the reduction of the spot, whose initial volume was estimated at 1.4 m³ of oil.
Petrobras reported that the unit, chartered by the company and operated by Modec do Brasil, had already stopped production since July 2018 for decommissioning (deactivation of the unit).
Still according to Petrobras, the regulators have been duly informed and an investigating board will examine the causes of the incident in collaboration with Modec.
