The army and civilian and military police participate in ostensive security actions in Jardim Catarina and Complexo do Salgueiro; five people were arrested

The Joint Intervention Command returned on Sunday evening (15) to the communities of São Gonçalo, in the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro. More than 4,000 men from the armed forces and civilian and military police are involved in ostensive security actions in Jardim Catarina and the Salgueiro complex.
Until 8 am, five people were arrested and three seized. In addition, six barricades were removed and two stolen cars were recovered
The operation involves siege, stabilization of areas, clearance of roads and criminal background checks, according to the Joint Command. There are 4,300 military personnel, 120 military police and 80 civilian police, supported by armored tanks, aircraft and engineering equipment to remove the barricades.
Last Friday (13), the armed forces were in the Jardim Catarina communities and the Salgueiro complex in an operation to confront suspects who control criminal activities in the area . An unidentified person was slightly injured in the shooting and was taken to a hospital in the area.
Both actions are part of the measures implemented by the federal intervention in matters of public security of the state. From its beginnings on February 16 of this year until May, 203 monitored operations were conducted, with the participation of 100,000 agents, according to data from the Intervention Observatory.
