Between July 11 and 14, the Jundiaí School of Medicine (FMJ) and the University Hospital (HU) will promote a series of lectures on arboviruses. Arboviruses are viruses transmitted to humans primarily by mosquitoes and ticks. The event will feature exhibitions by two renowned professors from Barcelona, Spain: Prof. Dr. Antonio Soriano Arandes, Foundation of the Research Institute of Vall University Hospital Hebron; and Profa. Ana Alarcón Allen, MD, pediatrician at the Department of Neonatology at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, University of Barcelona. The program was developed by the Zika Virus – Zika Jundiai Cohort project and will target students, doctors and health professionals in the region.
According to Prof. Dr. Saulo Duarte Pbados, head of Zika Jundiaí Cohort, who is developing research on the impact of the zika virus in the maternal and child area, including 766 women and 748 babies, who will also make presentations during the conference cycle. Exchange of experiences between Brazil and Spain will benefit people affected by the virus worldwide. "The case presentations and the results obtained so far in both countries will allow for a more complete discussion of the most serious cases, which will be able to rely on the so-called" second opinion "- in which more than one medical team is evaluating the case – and therefore the most appropriate treatment, "he explains
.The event will also serve to promote the training of health professionals on the "Diagnostic tools for the badessment of child development", which will be taught by Spanish teachers. "This tool is called ASQ3 and consists of specific questionnaires that Brazilian professionals can apply and thus allowing the cross-referencing of information and research results in a systemic and multicentric way, which will allow integration with other countries in the world ", explains Dr. Pbados
At the closing of the activities, the expensive ones Spanish researchers will participate in the joint effort with the families accompanied by the Zika virus research project in Jundiaí. "This effort takes place every 15 days, in order to follow the development of the children.The accompaniment includes a multidisciplinary team, with pediatrician, neuropediatrician, pneumopediatre, speech therapist, physiotherapist, odontologist, psychopedagogue and nurses", explains the Dr. Pbados.
