The pbadage of the temporary presidency was held during the opening ceremony of the 12th CPLP Heads of State and Government Conference in Sal Island, Cape Verde . The meeting will end on Wednesday (18), when Temer will return to Brazil.
Created in 1996, this community includes Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe and Timor-Leste .
One of the objectives of the group is to strengthen diplomacy and cooperation between members and to spread the Portuguese language.
At the opening ceremony, Temer delivered a speech in which he announced that Brazil would sell 30 hours of audiovisual content from Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) to other CPLP countries. .
According to the president, the decision "aims again to integrate more countries" of the community.
Fear also said that the CPLP "has made very strong progress," adding that the community brings together "fascinating cultural and human diversity", with the Portuguese language being the "strongest means" of "communion" between countries.
"Our common language is a fundamental link between all our peoples, but I must say that it is not the only one and that we must unite in the CPLP this aspiration to more prosperous and just societies", said Temer.
Temer also cited a brief review of the two years in which Brazil led the CPLP. He cited partnerships in areas such as family farming, health, justice, public safety and advocacy.
The President also stated that Brazil's management at the head of the CPLP was based on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The intention was to bring the agendas closer to the UN community.
Cármen Lúcia in the presidency
With Temer's trip to Cape Verde, the President of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Cármen Lúcia badumed the presidency of the Republic on Tuesday, should remain in the position until Wednesday.
Carmen Lúcia is in the presidency for the third time, since, in addition to Temer, the Presidents of the House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), and the Senate, Eunício Oliveira (MDB-CJ).
Whenever Temer leaves the country, Maia and Eunicio organize international trips to avoid the risk of being prevented from challenging the elections of October this year ( to understand here ) .
