The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) confirmed today that the privatization auction of Companhia Energética do Piauí (Cepisa), the energy distributor of Eletrobras in Piauí, is maintained for 26 July. The confirmation comes one day after Judge André Fontes, president of Regional Court Region 2 (TRF2), suspended the injunction that had prevented the auction of six electricity distributors, Eletrobras subsidiaries.

In a statement released (BNDES), responsible for the process, informed that investors interested in Cepisa must submit their economic proposals by the company and qualifying documents to the São Paulo Stock Exchange on July 23 from 9am to noon .

The injunction that suspended the auction was granted on July 12 by the Federal Court of Rio de Janeiro, in a lawsuit brought by the Eletrobras Employees Association (Aeel), whose merits will still be judged at first instance. The decision referred to the stage of delivery of the documents by the bidders for qualification in the auction. Aeel requested the cancellation of the bidding process on the grounds that the sale could influence the price of the service provided by the distributors. The badociation also questioned the possibility that the privatization would have a negative impact on Eletrobras, since the company will lose its own funds following the transfer of control of the six distributors.

According to the BNDES, the auction of the other distributors will take place the next day 30 August. They will be auctioned: Acre Electricity Company (Eletroacre), Rondônia Elétricas Center (Ceron), Boa Vista Energia, Roraima energy distributor, Amazonas Energy Distributor (Amazonas Energia). Already the auction of Companhia Energética de Alagoas (Ceal) remains suspended due to a court decision

It was also decided that the state company will badume the costs of 8.5 billion reais by referring to the contributions of the sectoral energy funds, related to credits or obligations with the account. Energy Development (CDE) and Fuel Consumption Account (CCC). With that, Eletrobras should badume about R $ 20 billion of distributors' liabilities.

In November of last year, the government stipulated the symbolic value of R $ 50,000 for each of the distributors. In addition to the minimum value of R $ 50,000, buyers will be required to make a financial contribution to the capital of the six companies totaling R $ 2.4 billion.
