The bus company Estrela Azul closes its activities in Rio, says the Union | New Orleans hotels

According to the vice president of the Union of Drivers and Reclaimers of Rio de Janeiro (Sintraturb Rio), one of the partners of the company said that there were no more conditions for continue to operate. This is the 14th company to close the doors since 2015.

This statement was made at a meeting at the headquarters of Estrela Azul. Monday morning, about 400 employees of the company, between drivers and collectors, stopped.

Among the requests, they asked for payment of salaries, food baskets and food coupons past four months. In addition, employees did not receive vacation pay.

In December of last year, company officials had already put an end to their activities to protest against wage arrears. Throughout 2018, Blue Star buses have made three stops, but still no payment.

The RioÔnibus Consortium said in a statement that the company "has made every effort to maintain the l & # 39; operation in recent months and not leave the population unattended but has not borne the hardships imposed by the severe financial crisis affecting the road pbadenger transport system in Rio de Janeiro ".

Rio Bus also stated that the consortia had already put in place the emergency plan and were working to supply all the lines operated by the company and to avoid any disturbance to the population.
