The study titled "Associations Between Symptoms of Diet and Asthma and Asthma Control in Adults" Revealed that Food is the Most One of the key factors of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, among others, and also for the symptoms of asthma, a disease that affects nearly 20 million Brazilians.

According to data from the Brazilian Ministry of Health and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), asthma kills three people a day in Brazil.

Researchers badyzed data on the respiration of more than 35,000 French adults. Of these, 28% of women and 25% of men had at least one symptom of asthma. All participants had to respond to a questionnaire on their breathing and lifestyle for one year

After taking into account other factors such as smoking and physical activity, the researchers found a direct relationship between asthma and dietary habits. The most common symptoms of asthma, such as shortness of breath, dry cough and wheezing, were more controlled in the French who were following a healthy diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and fiber.

"Fruits, vegetables, and high-fiber foods contain antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, the main elements that help control the symptoms of asthma," said Dr. Roland Andrianasolo, principal investigator of the 39 research team in nutritional epidemiology and professor at the University Paris 13. On the other hand, diets rich in red meat, salt and sugar aggravate the symptoms of the disease. "These foods can cause inflammation, which can potentiate the symptoms of asthma."

A 2013 study has already warned of the danger of a fast diet. According to the report published in Science Translation Medicine, the habit of eating fast food three or more times a week is badociated with a 39% increase in the risk of developing severe asthma in adolescents and a 25% greater chance in children. On the other hand, eating fruit at least 3 times a week can reduce the prevalence of severe asthma in adolescents and children by 11%. In addition to this recent research on the bad habits that causes Fast Food, there are risks that few people know and that science has already discovered, such as difficulty getting pregnant.
