The Ministry of Health reported today (18) that the influenza vaccination campaign has achieved the goal of vaccinating 90% of the target population. According to the latest bulletin issued by the federal government, 90.19% of the priority population received the dose – a total of 51.4 million people.
The record warned, however, that pregnant women and children from 6 months to less than 5 years of age continued to have immunization coverage of less than 80% – 77.8% and 76.5%, respectively.
Regions
Of the regions, the Midwest and Northeast are the only ones that exceeded the target, with 99.45% and 94%, 71%, respectively. In the North and Southeast, they have the lowest immunization coverage – 86.61% and 86.9%.
States
The states with the lowest influenza vaccination rates are Roraima, with 67.1%, Rio de Janeiro, with 77%, 9% and Acre, with 79.1%.
Those who have already achieved the immunization goal are: Goiás (106.7%), Ceará (104.3%), Amapá (100.3%), Federal District (98.2%), Espírito Santo%), Pernambuco (96.3%), Tocantins (96.2%), Alagoas (94.7%), Minas Gerais (94.8%), Mato Grosso (94%), Maranhão, Piauí (91, 6%) and Mato Grosso do Sul (90%), in the state of Paraíba (93.3%), Rio Grande do Norte (92.9%), Sergipe (92.9%), Paraná 9% ).
Case
As of July 16, 4,680 influenza cases were recorded nationwide, with 839 deaths. Of the total, 2,813 cases and 567 deaths were caused by the H1N1 virus and 991 cases and 140 deaths by H3N2. In addition, there were 335 influenza B cases, with 46 deaths and 541 untyped influenza A cases, with 86 deaths.
The states with the largest number of cases include São Paulo (1,702), Ceará (376), Paraná (432) and Goiás (378).
