LAUSANNE, Switzerland – Breakdance and three other sports have made the decision to become medals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee has recommended adding the Paris program to the practice of breakdance, skateboarding, sports climbing and surfing, when all members will meet in June.
The final decision must be taken by the council in December 2020 after an additional check of the four.
IOC President Thomas Bach said that "younger and urban" sports offer "new opportunities to connect with the younger generation".
Although breakdance is a new addition, the other three are already confirmed in the programming of the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
Bach says the four will continue to be evaluated for how the sport is run, as well as for the integrity of competitions and judgments.
