WASHINGTON – The Braves utility, Charlie Culberson, was shot in the face as he tried to break the deadlock in the seventh inning of the Braves game in Washington on Saturday.

Culberson, who got the better of Mike Foltynewicz, was trying to beat top runner Billy Hamilton in third. He was hit in the face by a Fernando Rodney shot.

Culberson immediately hit the ground. He was controlled by the team coaches and removed from the field after walking to the cart. The show showed coaches using towels to slow Culberson bleeding.

STORIES TRENDS:

The referees decided that Culberson was not pulling his bat back, calling the play rather than being hit by the ball. Manager Brian Snitker has fought furiously before being kicked out for the 13th time of his career.
