Super Nintendo World was scheduled to open on February 4. A state of emergency had already been declared last Friday to at least February 7 to cover the Tokyo area, including Chiba, which is home to the Tokyo Disney Resort. Tokyo Disney Resort and Universal Studios Japan have announced that they will limit capacity to 5,000 guests per day during the emergency.

The state of emergency is also set to expire on February 7 in Osaka from now on. Universal Studios Japan has said it will announce a new opening date once the state of emergency is lifted.

A number of details are available in the meantime, including Shigeru Miyamoto’s 15-minute country tour, the exciting buckets of popcorn, the menus for Yoshi’s Snack Island and even a great deal of the merchandise!

While this is disappointing news, it is in the best interests of the safety of guests and crew in the park. We can only hope that the COVID-19 situation in Japan will improve so that Super Nintendo World can open safely as soon as possible.
