Zachary Madsen, 26, jumped into the ring and seized Hart, 61, the NYPD said in a statement.
Various WWE superstars rushed to shoot the man during the event that was held at Barclay Center in New York, according to CNN affiliate WLNY.
Among them were fight stars Shane McMahon, Xavier Woods, Tyson Kidd and Curtis Axel, as well as Ronda Rousey's heavyweight UFC and husband, Travis Browne.
Security detained the man until the arrival of the police who arrested him, but Madsen would have caused minor injuries to the guard, according to the station.
Madsen faces two counts of third degree aggression, criminal trespass and another charge of misdemeanor, according to NYPD. Hart would not have been transported to the hospital and continued his speech.
Wrestlemania, the biggest event of the WWE of the year, will be held Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
