A 26-year-old man was detained after attacking former professional wrestler Bret Hart at the WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday night, confirmed the New York Police Department. York to TheWrap.
Hart was on stage at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to pay tribute to his brother-in-law and label partner, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, who died last August at the age of 63. Together, the two men became two-time WWE Tag Team Champions as the iconic duo of The Hart Foundation, which was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last night.
While Hart was talking to the crowd alongside Neidhart's niece and daughter, Natalya Neidhart, a man wearing a Rastafarian hat. rushed to the stage and tried to attack Hart. The striker, who was later identified as Zachary Madsen, was immediately removed from Hart by several WWE wrestlers and security agents, including former Hart apprentice Tyson Kidd. Streaming of the event by WWE Network was interrupted during the incident.

"I'm so proud of my uncle @BretHart tonight at our HOF ceremony," tweeted Neidhart after the event. "Bret is a cancer survivor, a stroke and one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He did not deserve to be attacked or to lose his moment or that of my father. We put it back on track. Thanks guys."
An NYPD spokesman said the attacker was facing two charges of third degree aggression and a third criminal charge of trespassing. Hart was not injured by the attack and is yet to go to WWE Wrestlemania, which will be held at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night.
