Bret Robbins, Call of Duty Veterinarian, Form Ascendant Studios

Bret Robbins Studios Ascendant Studios are currently working on their first title and aim to create "AAA Expansive Games of the Highest Quality".

Former creative director of EA and Sledgehammer Games, Bret Robbins, unveiled Thursday the formation of a new independent video game studio, Ascendant Studios. The new studio is backed by Brian Sheth, co-founder and chairman of venture capital software investor Vista Equity Partners.

Robbins has formed the new studio with a collection of industry veterans, such as Sledgehammer, EA and the recently unveiled developers of Telltale Games, to work on "Expansive, AAA Games of the Highest Quality".

"I've always wanted to create my own company and create my own game," Robbins said. The Hollywood journalist. "We have a lot of veterans and we are just getting in. We are going in. We have people playing AAA games and independent games, so we try to experience a lot of different experiences in the building. "

Robbins has an impressive resume as a game developer, having been Senior Creative Director at Sledgehammer for the Call of Duty series where he worked Call of Duty: The Modern War 3, Call of Duty: The Advanced War and Call of Duty 2017: The Second World War. Previously, he held creative positions with EA during his seven-year tenure and worked on titles such as The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and the survival horror classic Dead space.

With Ascendant Studios, Robbins is now ordering an independent studio but with the experience and funding to create AAA big budget titles.

"We are in a rare position where we have the freedom to do things the right way without outside pressure and to do something really new and exciting," he said.

Ascending Studios is located in San Rafael, California and is currently working on developing its first game. Asked about the In-the-Works title, Robbins smiles but gives some clues.

"We are not talking about the game yet, but I can say that we are aiming for AAA quality and production values," he said. "It will be an original IP and a world we create."
