Brewers beat the Braves in extra innings, 3-2

After two demoralizing defeats against the Atlanta Braves in the first two games of their three-game series in Atlanta, the Milwaukee Brewers were looking to save at least one win. And the Brewers could do it behind the arms of Brandon Woodruff and Josh Hader, as well as the running ball.

For things to go well, Christian Yelich scored the Brewers on the board at the start of his 19th race of the season, topping the first. The homer was a solo hit in the center of the field that had just crossed the wall. Ronald Acuna immediately countered the shot as he led down the first goal with a circuit himself to bring the score to 1-1 after a run.

Keston Hiura has entered today's troubled game. He must at least breathe a little better when he hit his first goal in a major league early in the fifth inning. Online shooting cleared the left field wall and gave the Brewers a 2-1 advantage. He will later take a singles start for his second shot of the game. A good day for the rookie second base player.

Craig Counsell, the manager, gave a little more enthusiasm to the fifth. Orlando Arcia collapsed, but he seemed to have hit the ball with his foot. It would have been a wrong ball as opposed to a field. Arcia's reaction certainly suggested that he hit the ball with his foot. Unfortunately, the referees did not see it as such. Counsell had the shade in a big way. In fact, he was asked to leave the game for lack of decorum because he argued a little too violently.

Brandon Woodruff navigated this game until Freddie Freeman came to the plate at the bottom of the seventh. Freeman threw a 96-mph fastball on the center-left wall to tie the game. Woodruff was able to finish the seventh inning without any other damage. The big surprise was that Woodruff took off from the top of eighth place, which earned him the eighth.

He entered the heat with only 80 shots, so he launched efficiently and effectively. He was able to throw a goal to finish the eighth inning and only with 93 shots. The question would be, would it come out for the ninth?

He did not, but finished with a line of eight innings pitched, two earned runs on two solo shots and six strikeouts. It seemed every time a top of the turning arm today. But Freddy Freeman returning to ninth place, the Brewers accompanying Josh Hader and Hader crossing the ninth quite easily. This sent the game to extra innings. I imagine that it was a surprise for everyone since it was the fourth case of extra round for the Brew Crew in their last fifteen games.

Things seemed a little dark in the tenth. Orlando Arcia opted to open the round but was knocked to nothing. Fortunately, Ben Gamel came to the rescue. He started a home run on the center wall to give the Brewers a 3-2 lead.

Josh Hader came back for the tenth. He pulled out Austin Riley to start the inning. Johan Carmargo flew to the left. With their last opportunity, the Braves sent Josh Donaldson to the plate to hit. Hader hit it with a fast high ball to win the victory in it.

The Brewers are out Monday and will return to Miller Park on Tuesday for the first of three clashes against the Cincinnati Reds. The first launch is scheduled at 6:40. Sonny Gray is scheduled to start against Gio Gonzalez. The game can be heard on WTMJ and viewed on Fox Sports Wisconsin.
