Brian Laundrie used Gabby Petito’s bank card in Wyoming just three days after the 22-year-old from Long Island was last seen alive, her family’s lawyer said Tuesday.

Petito was last seen at a Wyoming restaurant on August 27, while Laundrie, 23, drove home alone in her van on September 1 – and the boyfriend has since fled the federal government.

“You can see his state of mind by his actions,” Petito family lawyer Richard Stafford said on CBS-TV’s Dr. Phil.

“He ran away, he stole his credit card, he used his credit card to get home, then ran away from the police,” Stafford said. “It’s going to show a lot what he was thinking at the time.”

Wyoming federal authorities issued an arrest warrant for Laundrie on September 23 for allegedly using a stolen card “on or around August 30, 2021, until September 1, 2021 or around September 1, 2021” and “obtaining items valued at $ 1,000 or Suite. “

The body of the Blue Point native was found in a campground in the Teton-Bridges National Forest in Wyoming, with her death classified as a homicide.

Laundrie asked for a lawyer and refused to speak to authorities after he returned home without her on September 1 and then disappeared from his parents’ house in Florida.

The fugitive’s parents told police he hiked September 14 on the nearby Carlton reservation and never returned.
