Brian Laundrie’s parents remove laundry baskets from their garden

Brian Laundrie’s parents came out of their Florida home on Sunday night to remove protest laundry baskets from their lawns – along with a tribute poster dedicated to the fugitive’s late girlfriend, Gabby Petito.

Chris and Roberta Laundrie, who cleaned about 10 white laundry baskets of their North Port property, declined to answer questions from the gathered media, according to a video posted by Fox News.

“Just let me do it,” said Chris, who joined the week-long search last week in a large nature reserve for his 23-year-old son – the only person of interest in the disappearance and death of Petito.

Last week, a woman from Pennsylvania placed a laundry basket and a sign saying “Dirty Laundrie come clean” on their lawn. The display – which included the sign, a box of detergent and a bottle of bleach – sparked outrage online.

Marissa Zdazinsky, 46, of Hershey, told The Sun that she was only sending a message to parents in Laundrie to cooperate with law enforcement.

Laundrie went missing last month after his parents claimed he went for a hike in the 25,000-acre Carlton Preserve, which authorities have been searching since September 18.

His parents first told cops that their son left home on September 14 – but they waited three days to report his disappearance despite the notoriety surrounding him.

Family lawyer Steven Bertolino last week said in a statement that the laundries got it wrong and said Brian actually left the house on September 13.

Laundrie had returned home without his 22-year-old girlfriend on September 1, nearly three weeks before his body was found at a Wyoming campsite on September 19.

Meanwhile, Petito’s family visited a makeshift memorial for the slain woman at North Port Town Hall, where they recovered some of the items before they were removed on Tuesday, according to News Nation Now.

Sunday night, Petito’s mom, Nichole Schmidt, tweeted a photo with a heart shaped cloud and wrote, “Goodbye Florida… thank you for showing us so much LOVE!”
