Shocking footage on local television shows the moment part of a bridge collapsed as a reporter stood a few feet amid heavy rain in North Carolina on Thursday.

During the newscast, reporter Amber Roberts, from a local Fox affiliate in Charlotte, showed viewers running water flooding under a bridge and damage to the roadway in Alexander County, according to the footage.

Roberts knelt down and pointed to a section of the two-lane car bridge to show the tilting pavement amid the torrential storm, according to the footage.

“This bridge is sinking. Take a look at the ground, you can see it give way, ”she said.

Seconds later, the section of the pavement collapses and falls into the water as Roberts screams in shock.

The area was battered by heavy rain on Thursday, but the weather is expected to improve and the showers are expected to disappear by Thursday evening, according to the station.

In a post-ordeal tweet, Roberts said she was grateful that she and her cameraman escaped the dangerous scene unharmed.

“I’m so #thanks to me and my @ FOX46News #photojournalist, @ JonMonteFOX46 is doing great. I send # prayers to the people of #Alexander #County affected by the # floods today » she wrote.
