In the wake of news of Netflix’s period phenomenon Bridgerton has been officially renewed, series creator Chris Van Dusen confirms that season 2 will indeed be Take a literal and figurative page from Julia Quinn’s second book and focus on Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s Quest for a Bride.
“We will really be [focusing on] Bridgerton’s older brother next season, Lord Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey, ”Van Dusen revealed Thursday on the Today show. “We left him at the end of the first season at a crossroads, so I can’t wait to jump in and find out how he’s doing in the wedding market.”
He will apparently do well as Van Dusen added that the series will introduce “a bunch of new characters” in season 2, including a new “love” for bridal-minded Lord Anthony. The EP remains convinced that this new love story will be as “radical and moving and beautiful” as the central romance of season 1 between Simon de Regé-Jean Page and Daphne de Phoebe Dynevor.
Speaking of the Duke and Duchess of Hastings, Van Dusen has not confirmed whether Page and Dynevor will return for season 2. “I hope so,” he said. “They’re the Duke and Duchess now, but in my mind they’ll always be Bridgertons, and I think they’ll always be part of the show.
