Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor denies Regé-Jean Page love rumors: “ Always been strictly professional ”

Phoebe Dynevor purifies the air.

The ‘Bridgerton’ actress, 25, recently spoke to You magazine and took the time to deny any rumors of romance between the co-star and her onscreen husband, Regé-Jean Page – stressing that their relationship is “strictly professional”.

“I would love to say that there was really something between us,” Dynevor said. “But no, it has always been strictly professional.”

“There was so much pressure on us to do it right that it was all about work. We have a really professional working relationship,” she continued. “I’m happy for that, actually. It would be very complicated if it went any further.”

Dynevor also noted that she had “[heard] about people who fall in love with their co-stars. “” It hasn’t happened to me yet, but I’m intrigued. “

“People really care about us,” Dynevor said of the fans’ hopes for a true romance between the two. “We have to say that we are actors, we do a job, there is something to say so as not to spoil the magic … but at some point you have to say ‘no’.”

Page, who plays Simon Basset on the hit Netflix series, also spoke about the rumors in a January interview with Access.

The period drama’s first season focused on the scorching court between Daphne Bridgerton (Dynevor) and Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings.

“I think all you need to know is on camera,” Page said at the time.

“That’s why we presented it so well for you,” he shared. “All of the sparks that flew were from the beautiful scripts that were handed to us, and so I think the sparkling words in the scripted material are more than enough.”

The series, based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels, follows British high society families and how they face the competitive marriage market of Regency London. Along the way, a mysterious gossip columnist known as Lady Whistledown appears to see – and tell it all. The outrageous writer is voiced by Julie Andrews.
