Bridges collapse in the Jersey Shore home during the annual firefighters weekend. Massive emergency response in progress.

Emergency officials struggled on Saturday to search for victims after the collapse of several bridges in a Wildwood home during the annual firefighters weekend at the Jersey Shore resort.

The photos and videos of the scene showed that at least two large bridges on a three-story building had collapsed and had fallen to the ground. Emergency officers, many of them firefighters, were trying to lift one of the bridges.

It was unclear how many people, if any, were on the bridge when they collapsed. But neighbors told the press in Atlantic City that several people had been injured and had to be hospitalized.

It appears that the decks of the second and third floors broke away from the building and fell on a bridge on the first floor. A cantilever on the fourth floor of the upper deck remained intact over the collapse while the rescuers were working on the scene.

The collapse occurred during the New Jersey Firefighters Convention, an annual event that brings together thousands of current and former firefighters in the city of Jersey Shore.

You could see dozens of people wearing shirts representing firefighters all over New Jersey surrounding them around the emergency response.
