Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney has a message for former President Donald Trump and the main candidate he backed on Thursday to topple her: “Bring it.”
The former president pledged for months to back a main opponent of Cheney, the most senior Republican to vote for his impeachment for his role in inciting the Jan.6 insurgency on Capitol Hill. The Wyoming Republican remained a vocal critic of the president in the months following Trump’s departure, putting her at odds with the majority of her party and costing her a place in the GOP leadership.
After months of research, Trump on Thursday announced his support for Harriet Hageman, a lawyer who resigned earlier this week as a member of the Wyoming GOP national committee. Hageman previously served in Cheney’s campaign in 2013 as a senior adviser during his unsuccessful Senate bid. Hageman was a delegate for Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign in 2016.
