EXCLUSIVE: Royal filmmaker Nick Bullen believes the British monarchy can survive the recent bombshell interview the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave to Oprah Winfrey.

On March 7, CBS aired a two-hour account Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle gave to the media mogul, 67. her older brother, Prince William, broke up.

Markle, 39, described feeling so isolated and miserable within the royal family that she had thoughts of suicide. The Duchess of Sussex also alleged that a member of the royal family had ‘concerns’ about the color of her unborn child’s skin.

The family member was not Queen Elizabeth II or Prince Philip, according to Harry, prompting a wave of speculation about who it could be.

Still, Bullen believes the palace “will continue.”

“The monarchy can survive this interview without a doubt,” Bullen told Fox News. “There’s no idea in me that would suggest that anything but survival is possible for them. Look, it’s bad. It’s shocking. It’s horrible. And it’s really sad. But the queen has been amazing in navigating these great personal. and the public disasters facing the family. “

Bullen is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of True Royalty TV. The award-winning documentary maker has been directing shows about the royal family for almost 20 years and has worked closely with Charles, 72, for the past eight years.

Thirty-six hours after the couple’s allegations were broadcast, Buckingham Palace issued a public statement. However, this has failed to calm the controversy, and some observers have criticized the royals for failing to forcefully condemn racism and suggest that the couple’s version of events may not be accurate.

“Too little, too late” was the verdict of royal commentator Peter Hunt, who also criticized the palace’s 61-word statement for saying the issue would be treated privately as a family affair.

“This delayed and tame statement was chosen for predictability when the unpredictability – stepping out of Windsor’s comfort zone – was what was needed,” Hunt wrote on the website of influential UK magazine The Spectator.

The statement was released on behalf of the Queen, 94. It came after increasing pressure from the public.

“The whole family is saddened to learn how difficult the past few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” the palace said. “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are cause for concern. While some memories may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be treated by the family in private.”

The comments were the palace’s first words since the interview rocked the royal family – and sparked conversations around the world about racism, sanity and even the relationship between Britain and its former colonies.

Bullen said it was not the first time the Queen has faced such a global scandal.

“When Princess Diana died there were stories going around insisting that the royal family had her killed,” he explained. “There was that feeling of riot in the streets. People were publicly against the Royal Family and in favor of Diana. But the Queen calmed the waters with her speech the night before the funeral and things continued.”

“But even over the past hundred years, the family has still survived having faced any sort of crisis thrown at them,” he continued. “It’s just another crisis they’ll have to go through.”

Shortly after the interview, William defended the monarchy by saying that they were “really not a racist family”. The 38-year-old’s comments were made during a visit to a school in east London.

The Duke of Cambridge, who is second to the throne after Charles, said he had yet to speak to Harry following the interview.

“But I will do it,” he noted.

Two days after the whole thing, Charles went out to visit a COVID-19 vaccination clinic in London. The Prince of Wales was asked about his reaction to reporters’ shocking conversation but remained silent.

A representative for Charles did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Bullen said there was no doubt Harry and Markle’s comments hurt the family.

“What I find horrible about it is that it comes from deep within the family,” he said. “When Diana gave her own shocking interview, it was, to some extent, outside the family. But this disaster happened within the family.”

Still, Bullen noted that Harry and William are expected to stand “side by side” at a memorial they commissioned for their late mother this summer. And so far, it is still relevant today.

“They both would like to honor him and both are committed to doing so,” Bullen said. “And the plan is still on. What happens now is a guess, but I imagine they will be together on July 1.”

Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made no comment when contacted by Fox News.

Harry told Winfrey the Royal Family cut him off financially in early 2020 after announcing his intention to step down from his roles. But he was able to ensure the safety of his family thanks to the money left by his late mother.

He said his relationship with Charles had been affected. He even noted that the Patriarch had stopped taking his phone calls.

“There’s a lot to work on there,” Harry said of his relationship with his father. “I feel really disappointed. He’s been through something similar. He knows how pain feels. And Archie is his grandson. I will always love him, but there is a lot of wrong that has happened. “

Harry also admitted that he currently does not have a close relationship with his brother William. He took issue with rumors that he had intentionally blinded the Queen with his decision to go their separate ways. He suspected the rumors were coming from the institution.

“I never blinded my grandmother,” Harry said. “I have too much respect for her.”

The interview was seen by nearly 50 million people around the world.

After Harry and Markle’s wedding in May 2018 at Windsor Castle, the royal family appeared to welcome the Duchess of Sussex, a former glamorous TV star. The couple were seen as offering a new, youthful face to the monarchy of an increasingly multicultural nation.

The couple stepped down from royal duties last year and eventually settled in California, claiming they wanted to escape racist coverage and unwanted intrusions into their privacy by the British media.

During the interview, the Duke and Duchess said they were expecting a girl this summer.
