Britney Spears asks dad to step down as curator over new case

Britney Spears’ lawyer filed a petition on Tuesday calling for the pop star’s father, Jamie Spears, to be removed from his position as Curator.

In the recent court filing, obtained by Variety and other news outlets, Spears asks Jodi Montgomery to take over the curatorial role for good. Montgomery has been acting as Spears’ temporary curator since Jamie Spears stepped down in September 2019 for health reasons.

Jamie Spears has acted as a curator since 2008, but the pop star’s attorney, Samuel Ingham, first requested his removal from trusteeship last year.

Ingham did not immediately return BuzzFeed News’ request for comment.

If the petition is approved by a Los Angeles court, Montgomery will gain the authority to contact Spears’ doctors, limit his visitors to except his lawyer, and may retain the services of guards and security guards.

In February, the New York Times published Coaching Britney Spears, a documentary aired on FX / Hulu that inspired even more public interest in Spears’ Guardianship and the #FreeBritney movement.

The pop singer too tweeted and shared a message on Instagram when the documentary was released, saying, “Each person has their story and their take on other people’s stories !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all have so many beautiful, different and bright lives !!! Remember, no matter what we think we know about a person’s life, it’s nothing compared to the real person who lives behind the lens !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to Variety, the next court hearing regarding Spears’ guardianship is scheduled for April 27.
