Britney Spears co-curator says medical team supports Jamie Spears removal

Jodi Montgomery, who has been Britney Spears’ person curator since 2019, has filed a petition saying she agrees with the pop star’s request to remove her father as the estate registrar.

The motion, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday, ruled that James “Jamie” Spears should not continue to serve as curator “because it is not in the best interests of” his daughter.

“Because the primary concern of this trusteeship is to do what is in the best interests of the conservator, the petitioner hereby joins the conservator in the request for deletion,” the file reads. “The petitioner seeks the same relief from this tribunal as requested by Ms Spears in the deletion request.”

Montgomery, who was named in the Britney Spears case in 2019, said she agreed with the singer to replace Jamie Spears with Jason Rubin, a certified public accountant from Woodland Hills, Calif. She noted in her file that Rubin is “eminently qualified” and “will act in the best interests” of Britney Spears.

Montgomery went on to say that the pop star’s medical team was okay with Jamie Spears being taken out.

Lawyers for Britney Spears and Jamie Spears did not immediately return requests for comment on Friday.

Just days before Montgomery’s complaint was filed, Britney Spears’ new attorney filed a similar legal motion. Mathew Rosengart said in his filing Monday that Rubin should replace Jamie Spears and called him an “objectively intelligent preference to appoint a highly qualified professional trustee in this circumstance.”

Rosengart went on to say that Rubin’s appointment did not waive Britney Spears’ right to seek termination of her guardianship, for which she had been responsible for 13 years. The 39-year-old musician has been in a controversial legal battle to end guardianship and has accused her father of abusing his power over her and ruining her life.

Jamie Spears and his team have denied accusations he abused his position as Tory, repeatedly saying he only had his daughter’s best interests at heart.
