Britney Spears pleads for end of guardianship

Britney Spears’ guardianship case returns to court, three weeks after the singer condemned the system in a statement to a judge.

The hearing takes place this Wednesday (July 14) in Los Angeles and will focus on dealing with the consequences of Spears’ remarks.

In the weeks following his court statement, Spears’ court-appointed attorney resigned and the property management company that was supposed to monitor his finances pulled out of wardship.

Spears is not expected to speak at today’s hearing, although she may participate in one way or another, as she has sought to choose her own lawyer.

The document, filed Monday, July 12, states: “the importance of ensuring that an attorney can choose her own lawyer, where, as here, she has expressed the desire and the ability to do so.”
