Britney Spears’ dogs were reportedly brought home after days of questions about their health and care.

Controversy erupted for the “Toxic” singer after her dogs fell so ill that a housekeeper decided to take them urgently to the vet. The dogs have since remained with a dog sitter as they regain good health and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged physical altercation between Spears and the housekeeper that arose out of the vet visit. .

Now, TMZ reports that the dogs were returned to Spears’ care about two weeks after the vet visit and stayed with a dog sitter who has been with the pop star for some time. The housekeeper, meanwhile, would no longer work for the singer.

Representatives for Spears did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

TMZ previously reported that the housekeeper became concerned after the two dogs appeared dehydrated and were seen eating table scraps, which raised concerns about their nutrition. This was very worrying for one of the dogs as he suffers from a digestive problem and both dogs are on a special diet requiring a specific type of food.

The sheriff’s office said Thursday that Spears had been accused by the housekeeper of hitting them on the arm during an altercation over their decision to take the dogs to the vet. Spears, however, denied ever having been physically with his housekeeper in a statement released to Fox News.

“It’s nothing more than sensational tabloid fodder – an alleged misdemeanor involving a ‘he said she said’ about a cell phone, no knocking and obviously no injuries,” it read. in a note from his lawyer. “Anyone can lay a charge. It should have been closed immediately.”

“The sheriff’s office itself said the incident was classified as a ‘very minor misdemeanor …’ and said ‘there were no injuries’,” his lawyer added.

Meanwhile, the gossip site maintained that sources claimed that Spears confronted his housekeeper upon their return from the vet, and it was then that the alleged incident ensued.

The sheriff’s department said it is still investigating and the district attorney’s office will determine whether Spears will be high on a misdemeanor battery charge.
