Britney Spears loses offer to remove dad from guardianship

Pop star Britney Spears’ attempt to remove her father James Spears from guardianship of his estate suffered a temporary setback with a Los Angeles court denying the request.

James Spears has been her co-curator since 2008, when the singer suffered a very public outage. He became the sole conservative in 2019 after lawyer Andrew Wallet resigned from his co-tutelage.

In a hearing Tuesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny refused to suspend James Spears from his trusteeship, although she did not rule out future motions for his impeachment or suspension.

“My client informed me that she was afraid of her father,” Britney Spears’ attorney Samuel D. Ingham III told the judge. “She won’t reproduce again if her father is in charge of her career.”

At the same time, the financial company Bessemer Trust was appointed co-custodian.

James Spears ‘attorney Vivian Thoreen argued that under her client’s tutelage Britney Spears’ net worth came out of debt to $ 60 million.

Britney Spears began proceedings to remove her father from guardianship in August. In October, she won the right to expand her legal team.

Earlier this month, she posted a video on her Instagram page where she said, “Hi. So I know there have been a lot of comments and a lot of people have said a lot of different things about me, but I just want to let you know that I’m fine. I am the happiest of my life. I send you all many prayers, wishes and much love.
