Britney Spears posts about Burning Bridges on Instagram

Britney Spears’ new social media post doesn’t mince words.

The “Piece of Me” singer, who is currently locked in an intense legal battle with her, took to Instagram on July 30 to share a cryptic quote.

“If defending yourself burns bridges, I have matches,” the quote read. “We are driving at dawn.”

Spears first spoke about his guardianship on June 23.

“All I want is to own my money, and for this to end, and for my boyfriend to be able to drive me in his car,” she said at the time. She said she was “traumatized” by the guardianship experience and said she wished she could sue her family for taking advantage of her financial situation.

Spears was in 2008 after being placed on psychiatric hold for a mental assessment. It was extended indefinitely later that year.

While Trusteeship is generally aimed at the elderly or those unable to make informed decisions on their own, Spears has worked almost constantly since the beginning of her Tutorship, releasing several albums and performing almost every night in a long-standing and successful residence in Las Vegas. The fan-led #FreeBritney movement believes the trusteeship is unnecessary and unethical, and has led protests in hopes that Spears can get his agency back.

It’s not the only time in recent weeks that Spears has released a cryptic quote that many thought was about his current legal fight. Earlier this month, the crossroads star apparently in the caption of a since-deleted Instagram post.

“How dare the people you love the most to say anything… have they even reached out to lift me up even at TIME !!! ???” she wrote. “How dare you go public that NOW IS INTERVIEWING YOU… did you reach out when I was drowning ????”
