Earlier this week, Britney secured a legal victory as she continues to fight for her freedom. During his court hearing on Wednesday, July 14, that E! News was present because a Los Angeles judge allowed Britney to choose her own lawyer.

The singer was previously represented by an officially appointed lawyer, Sam ingham, since the start of its supervision in 2008.

Sam asked to step down on July 6, and according to court records obtained by E! News, he said he wanted to resign “upon the appointment of a new court appointed counsel.”

At Wednesday’s hearing, the judge confirmed Sam’s resignation and approved Britney’s request to hire the former federal prosecutor Matthieu Rosengart like his private lawyer.
