LOS ANGELES (AP) – Britney Spears thanked fans who have called #FreeBritney for years for major changes in the guardianship that has long controlled her life and money.

Identical posts from Spears on Twitter and Instagram Monday was his first public comment on the case since a judge suspended his father as curator of her estate last week, a move she had long hoped for.

“# FreeBritney movement… I have no words… because of you and your constant resilience to free me from my tutelage… my life is now in this direction !!!!! Spears said in the posts, with a brief, wordless video of herself. “I cried last night for two hours because my fans are the best and I know it… I feel your heart and you feel mine… I know it’s true.”

Spears has not been released from guardianship entirely. The legal arrangement that has been in place since 2008 remains, minus his father, but it could be terminated at a hearing on November 12.

While fans are constantly looking for cryptic comments about her guardianship in her Instagram posts, the singer rarely talks about it directly on social media.

His lawyer Matthew Rosengart has vowed to continue an investigation of his father, James Spears, and his management of guardianship even now that he has been removed from office.

Lawyers for James Spears said there were no grounds for his dismissal, his actions were still based on his daughter’s best interests and his suspension was a “loss to Britney”.
