Britt McHenry’s lawsuit against Fox News, alleging sexual harassment and retaliation by his former Fox Nation co-host Tyrus, has been willfully dismissed by his legal team.
According to two sources familiar with the matter, McHenry has struck a deal with Fox News – likely with an undisclosed nondisclosure agreement and cash settlement – and will be leaving the network.
“I take great pride in having to stand up for my rights and hope I have empowered other women to do the same,” McHenry told The Daily Beast in a statement. “While I fully maintain the truth of my allegations, I am happy to put this case behind me and move my career forward.”
Based on his agreement with Fox News, McHenry will be leaving the network and Fox Nation, the network’s online streaming service. She will continue to hold her position at FOX 5, a local Washington, DC branch, where she serves as an on-air analyst.
“While FOX News is confident this would have prevailed in the lawsuit, we are pleased that we were able to resolve this matter without further litigation,” Fox News Media said in a separate statement.
Tyrus, a former professional wrestler whose real name is George Murdoch, was accused by her former Fox Nation co-host McHenry of sexually harassing her and then retaliating after she broke. either complaint of his behavior. In her lawsuit, McHenry also alleged that the network deliberately dismissed her while protecting and promoting Tyrus even after her allegations were made public.
“Tyrus is pleased that the parties have reached a settlement in which the claims against him will be dismissed with prejudice,” attorney Tom Clare said in a statement. “Tyrus continues to dispute and deny the allegations made against him in the lawsuit and, consistent with that view, will not make any financial payments.
A federal judge previously dismissed Tyrus’ petition to deny late last year, ruling that McHenry’s litigation against ex-wrestler, Fox Nation executive producer Jennifer Rauchet and Fox News could go from l ‘before. Fox News, meanwhile, maintained throughout the proceedings that McHenry’s claims were “baseless.”
While McHenry has been almost completely off the airwaves of Fox News since filing his lawsuit in late 2019, Tyrus has remained a fixture on the network, appearing regularly on shows hosted by Fox News stars Greg Gutfeld and Dana Perino.
After Gutfeld scored a late-night “comedy” show on Fox News earlier this year, replacing Shannon Bream at 11 p.m. on weekday evenings, Tyrus became one of his regular co-panelists, earning a promotion in the process.
