On Saturday, the Denver Broncos announced a quartet of roster moves. The team began by activating offensive tackle Elijah Wilkinson from the injured reserve into the active roster.
The Broncos followed that up by “ elevating ” three players from the practice squad to the roster for the Week 11 home game against the Miami Dolphins, including tight end Troy Fumagalli, the defensive back Alijah Holder and linebacker Josh Watson.
Watson was appointed as Shelby Harris’ replacement of COVID-19 couldn’t clear the protocol in time for the game. Under NFL COVID-19 2020 rules, teams can elevate players from their practice squad to replace a player who is currently on the reserve / COVID-19 roster at the top of the two standard team elevations training.
Wilkinson is a fourth-year player who started the 2020 campaign as the Broncos’ starting right tackle. After three games in which he struggled a lot, he injured his leg and was placed in IR.

Demar Dotson is set to start on Sunday, but Wilkinson will be waiting ostensibly backstage with Jake Rodgers and Calvin Anderson hit.
Fumagalli was Denver’s fifth-round draft pick in 2018. After donning a red jersey to his rookie year while recovering from sports hernia surgery, he made his first appearance as a Bronco in 2019 as a tight third end on the totem pole.
Fumagalli didn’t survive the last roster cuts at the end of training camp last summer, but the Broncos brought him back to the practice squad after placing Jake Butt, Andrew Beck and Albert Okwuegbunam on IR.
Holder is a cornerback turned safety who is unlikely to see any defense clichés (barring injury), but gives the Broncos a willful and capable body for their special team cover units.
