Broncos not interested in Sam Darnold?

As teams in similar positions added quarterbacks in free agency or via trade, the Broncos held their own. They plan to acquire a veteran quarterback, but Sam darnold maybe not on GM George patonradar.

The Broncos haven’t shown interest in the Jets going through this offseason, at least not at the price the Jets may be looking for, Denver’s Troy Renck tweets. While rumors that the Jets could get a first-round pick for Darnold haven’t surfaced for months, a second-round player could be on the line. The Broncos, however, aren’t supposed to view Darnold as a improvement enough to part with a second-round pick, Renck adds. With the Broncos holding a high second-round pick (No.40), it makes sense that they wouldn’t part with that pick in such a trade.

Entering 2018 draft, former Broncos general manager John elway was interested in Darnold. However, the Broncos have not traded from their overall No.5 pick (Bradley Chubb) and saw the Jets write the USC product. The team had just signed Keenum case, who became the fourth quarterback to start for Denver since Peyton manningretirement. The Broncos have now started 10 QBs in the past five seasons.

Drew lock stays in line to start for the Broncos. He placed 29th in QBR last season and led the NFL in interceptions, throwing 15 picks despite three missed games and much of Week 2. Darnold, however, placed last (33rd) among the QBR qualified quarters in 2020.

The Broncos made an offer for Matthew stafford, but it was not at the level of the Panthers or Washington offers, and were planning to continue Deshaun Watson – before the quarterback’s off-court problems arise. Paton has indicated that trading will be an option for the team. Gardner Minshew generated commercial interest, and Nick foles would apparently be another option as a veteran who could join Lock. The 49ers insisted they Jimmy garoppolo in their 2021 plans, although their move to No.3 overall may point Garoppolo elsewhere.

While the Jets’ plans are not known, they are currently expected to select Zach wilson at n ° 2 of the general classification. With the Jets ready to trade Darnold or that pick, the Broncos appear as an obvious candidate to acquire the three-year veteran. But they may not go this route.
