George Paton was presented as the Broncos CEO today, and the executive gave a thoughtful response by explaining how he would help restore a winning culture to Denver.
“There won’t be any shortcuts,” Paton said (via the team’s website). “We will embrace the everyday [process], we’re going to embrace the grind, and we’re going to do it together. … We are going to be progressive, we are going to be innovative, we are going to be forward thinking and we are going to use all the information at our disposal to make the best informed decisions.
Paton also stressed the importance of knocking into the project and being innovative in their assessment of potential acquisitions.
“The writing and development of the players will be our foundation”, Paton said. “It will be the cornerstone of this football team.”
Paton joined the Broncos on a six-year contract. Under the restructured front office, Paton and the head coach Vic Fangio will report to John elway, which will have less to do with day-to-day team decisions.

- Washington previously interviewed Eric Stokes for their vacant post as CEO, reports Jason La Canfora (via Twitter). The 47-year-old has worked in NFL front offices since 2002, including stints with the Seahawks, Buccaneers, dolphins, and Panthers. He joined Washington as Director of Professional Scouting last summer. We learned yesterday that Washington is expected to eventually hire the former Panthers general manager Marty Hurne for the position.
- Scott Linehan and Joe Cullen will interview for the Jaguars coordinator positions opened this week, reports NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport (via Twitter). We learned Urban Meyerthe interest in the two coaches last weekend. Linehan, who is a candidate for the offensive coordinator position, has had a long coaching career, including a stint as Rams head coach. Cullen, a candidate for the opening of the defensive coordinator, has been the coach of the Baltimore defensive line since 2016. Rapoport notes that Raheem Morris was also a candidate for the defensive coordinator opening, but we’ve since learned that Morris would play the same role with the Rams.
- the Chargers will not retain the offensive line coach James Camp, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via Twitter). Campen spent over a decade with the Packers, and after a one-season stint with the Browns, Campen joined the Chargers as an offensive line coach last season. However, he will not stick around, as Schefter notes that the new head coach BHike Staley will bring his own coach from OL.
- the dolphins parted ways with the offensive line coach Steve Marshall and promoted Lemuel Jean Pierre to the role, reports Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle (via Twitter). Marshall has spent over a decade coaching in the NFL and he joined Miami in the last offseason. Jeanpierre spent time with the Seahawks, Raiders and Dolphins coaching teams, as an assistant coach of the Miami offensive line in 2020.
