NEW YORK – Kyrie Irving is listed as questionable for the Brooklyn Nets game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. This is the first time since January 5 that Irving’s status has left him free to play.
Irving has missed the last six games for the Nets.
If Irving plays on Monday, it will be the first time the Nets have had Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden together on the field. The Nets made a trade that brought Harden to Brooklyn on Wednesday.
For the first five games of his absence, Irving has been listed as absent for personal reasons.
During this hiatus, a video of Irving began circulating online at what appeared to be a family birthday party. The video showed the Nets goalie without a mask, dancing with his sister and standing next to her as she blew out birthday candles.
The league’s COVID-19 safety rules state that players are not allowed to go to bars, clubs and lounges or to attend gatherings of 15 or more people. Irving broke these rules. The league fined Irving $ 50,000 and fined him over $ 800,000 in wages for the two games he missed in quarantine.
Irving was absent for the Nets game on Sunday against the Orlando Magic under the league’s health and safety protocols. League rules allow players who have had to quarantine themselves to have a few days to step up their training on the pitch before joining their team in a game.
On Saturday, Nets coach Steve Nash said he expected Irving to practice with the squad of the team on Sunday.
Nets general manager Sean Marks said last week that Irving “will have a chance to talk about his absence when he’s ready to do so.”
