NEW YORK – Kyrie Irving will not play Thursday for personal reasons, leaving the Brooklyn Nets without their two superstars for their game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Kevin Durant was already absent due to NBA health and safety protocols. Coach Steve Nash said Durant would be able to return on Sunday if he continued to test negative for the coronavirus until then.

Irving was added to the injury report Thursday afternoon. Nash said he had not spoken to Irving and therefore did not know the reason for his absence, saying it was a personal matter.

Durant is fourth in the league at 28.2 points per game, while Irving is sixth at 27.1.

Seth Curry is out for the 76ers with pain in his left ankle.
