The Broward County Portal for Covid Vaccination Planning is back online after the site went down last week following high appointment demand.
The portal allows residents 65 years of age and over to make an appointment to receive the vaccine free of charge.
When the website went live last week, all slots were quickly booked through February and the portal started experiencing intermittent outages.
“We appreciate your patience during this time,” read a press release from the Florida Department of Health.
The ministry also urged eligible seniors to check the website often, as they will increase the number of vaccination sites for seniors in the coming weeks.
Driving vaccination sites are also available. Appointments cannot be made over the phone.
“We are sorry that the registration system did not work as expected. We recognize that our senior community is eager to receive the vaccine, ”said Dr. Paula Thaqi, director of the Florida Department of Health at Broward last week.
“Know that this is only the beginning of opportunities for COVID-19 vaccination. As the local vaccine supply grows, DOH-Broward and its partners stand ready to immunize people aged 65 and over and other priority groups as they are identified.
