Browns are interested in free agent LB Lavonte David

One of the most attractive free agents around once the signing period opens on March 17 will be Lavonte David. The quick and intelligent Buccaneers linebacker expects to have plenty of suitors after his starring role in helping Tampa Bay to victory in Super Bowl LV.

And according to a report from Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, the Cleveland Browns will be one of the teams chasing David. Cabot notes that sources have told him the Browns will be interested in David as the team’s primary target when it comes to free agency.

David will not come cheap. The 31-year-old recorded at least 100 tackles over eight of his nine NFL seasons, all at Tampa Bay. David had 117 tackles, one INT, one sack, three forced fumbles, 12 tackles for loss and six PDs in 2020.

There is, however, a strong free agent market among linebackers. The Browns have not prioritized spending in the post led by general manager Andrew Berry. But by adding speed and versatility to the position he needs during the offseason, David might get some serious interest from the Browns.
