The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will reduce their 80-man roster to their original 53-man roster for the regular season following Saturday night’s preseason final against the Houston Texans, but that group won’t necessarily be the same one that represents the title Super Bowl. champions when the Dallas Cowboys come to town for Week 1.

Bucs head coach Bruce Arians has warned the handful of players who will be part of the initial roster but could still be in the bubble due to possible cable transfers in the following days.

“[We’re] still looking for that hanging wire, which could be better than our last five or six, ”Arians said after practice Tuesday. “It’s every year. That’s what I always tell them, “Don’t celebrate after the first day of cuts because someone might still get your job. And don’t go buy a house, that’s for sure. You may want to stay a few weeks first. But yes, it has always been like that.

The Bucs were active on the waiver after the previous preseason and found impact players in the process. Any player who wants to stay past that initial cut might want to have an impressive big Saturday night against the Texans.
