Bruce Springsteen has announced a new album. Western stars was released on June 14 via Columbia. The first single, "Hello Sunshine", will be released at midnight tonight with a video accompaniment. Scroll to see Western starsCover art and tracklist.
"This disc is a return to my solo recordings, with songs directed by characters and spectacular orchestral and cinematic arrangements," Springsteen said in a press release. "It's a record box." Springsteen co-produced the album with Ron Aniello. We find Jon Brion (on celeste, Moog and farfisa), Patti Scialfa, David Sancious, former member of the E Street Band, and Charlie Giordano, Soozie Tyrell, etc.
According to the press release, the record is inspired by "Southern California pop records of the late '60s and early' 70s" and explores a "wide range of American themes, highways and desert spaces, isolation and community and permanence of the house and hope. "
Western stars marks Springsteen's first studio album since 2014 High hopes. Since then, he has released a box for River, a book of memory and a companion album, and vinyl cabinets gathering his studio work from 1973 to 1984 and from 1987 to 1996.
