“Scranton, Pa. Success is not passed on here,” Springsteen said in the ad, hoping to win over working-class voters. “He is forged by sweat, courage and determination. This is his hometown.”
The ad hints at the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, showing images of Biden, first responders and restaurant workers all in masks.
“In Scranton, good times are not promised, but here and in the cities of America times are tougher than they should be. Lives on hiatus, dreams on hold, future in doubt,” Springsteen said.
The ad also shows Biden heading to his childhood home in Scranton.
“(Biden’s) runs to change that, to give workers the chance they deserve. An honest life for honest work and a little bit of peace of mind at the end of the day. Because this place stays with him, these streets are part of him “It’s more than where he’s from, it’s who he is for,” Springsteen says.
The campaign did not disclose how much money was spent on Saturday night.
It is the latest in a series of ads the Biden campaign has placed in the final weeks of the campaign on some of the most popular real estate on television.
