The Bruins crossed one big item off their to-do list: Brandon Carlo has a new contract!
The Bruins announced this afternoon that Carlo has signed a six-year contract extension. The deal has a cap of $ 4.1 million.
The 24-year-old defender had to be a restricted free agent before signing the new contract.
At first glance, this seems like a bargain for the Bruins: Carlo has steadily improved and has become a staple of the B’s blue line, as evidenced by the Islanders’ end of the series.
Having a player like Carlo locked up for just over $ 4 million against the ceiling is a no-brainer.
The only concern with the contract is probably Carlo’s injury history, as he has suffered multiple concussions in recent years.
Still, that was probably never a reason not to bring him back, so this deal seems like a slam dunk for the Bruins.
Carlo has played 324 games for the B’s since joining the league in the 2016-17 season.
